You don't get it. Amazon pulled 5.12.4 from download because something is wrong with it. Amazon didn't pull 5.12.4 from the OTA servers when they should have. So lots of people ended up with 5.12.4 when they should not have. 5.12.4 should have been fully pulled and it wasn't. Now Amazon is ignoring the PW3 whch may be stuck on 5.12.4 and if 5.12.4 is still on the OTA server for the PW3, even more may someday end up with 5.12.4.

So if 5.12.4 is so wonderful, why did Amazon pull it from downloads?

Kobo has pulled firmware due to something wrong with it. Kobo replaces that firmware with another version fairly soon after for ALL devices that were able to install the pulled firmware. Amazon should do the same.
