Okay,
I just pushed this to master. ImportEpub will now consider any xhtml file over 300K in size with 4 or fewer new lines as being essentially malformed.

If the user has Mend on Open set in their preferences, they will be alerted to it and asked if they want to mend it.

Using this approach, I had no issues loading the problem testcase.
