I'm a big believer in that; we did the same with ours. Start clipping (hair and nails), grooming, etc. as EARLY as you can and it can be far less of a monumental battle. I do
think that Maine Coons tend toward being sanguine about it, anyway, based on my experience. My male lies there like a sack of flour and I do his nails, clip his coat and clean his ears (cotton balls with cleaning fluid on them, mooshed around inside the ear.)
The female MC is less amenable, but she'll hold still if Mr. H holds her.
