The Calibre fix is only a temporary fix. You can plug in your Kindle to fix the covers and then download an eBook from the Kindle and blow away the cover again. The problem comes from having WiFi on and connecting to Amazon. So yes Calibre will fix the problem but a sync will unfix the problem. The real solution is to keep WiFi off and side load everything.
