This is another move towards fulfilling the promise of these devices -- easy, cheap (or free) access to copious amounts of quality material that can be stored and read on a small device that is easy to read with a battery life measured in weeks.
Considering there's been lots of noise already about how HUGE this is for Sony and the HUGE number of books this brings to the Sony Reader, apparently people find the numbers (The Horse Race) of interest.
