Not quite right. You can select one book and use the bulk metadata edit option or you can select 100 books in individual mode and step through them using the next/previous buttons. Take a look at the two screenshots attached to this message. One is for the single book MDE and has a swap icon circled. The other is for the same book but selecting Edit metadata in bulk and the checkbox for title/author and 1 books circled.

At times, I find doing multiple tasks easier from the bulk metadata edit -- check change title case to Title Case, check remove all for the tags, etc. Of course for real fun, nothing like using Search and Replace on your live library. Did I pack a parachute or an anvil?
