The conversion from Kindle format to epub/kepub is not a hassle once everything is properly set up with Alf plugins etc. The Kobo books are also easily convertible to a Kindle format (the simplest way is to download an epub from your Kobo account via your web browser and convert that).
I don't have a Forma, so cannot answer your questions about it. Hopefully someone with a Forma will be along soon.
