Blue Blood is an omnibus of three titles in the Richard Mariner series by Peter Tonkin. I haven't spotted any of the three titles in this omnibus on sale before, but YMMV - this isn't a series I really follow that closely. The omnibus has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US, and has been £0.99 at Kindle UK for a while.

Titles include:
  • Wolf Rock
  • Cape Farewell
  • High Wind in Java
These are all from the middle of the series...

Wolf Rock

In the middle of a terrible storm in the English Channel, the Lionheart turns around to rescue those aboard the sinking Goodman Richard.

Abandoned by the captain and most officers on the only seaworthy lifeboat, a hundred distressed cadets escape the threatening waters of Wolf Rock thanks to the skills of Richard Mariner and his crew.

However, instead of being heralded as a hero, Mariner is painted as a villain. He is accused, by a corrupt board of inquiry, of being complicit in the knowledge that the ship wasn't originally seaworthy. Mariner is held responsible for the officers lost at sea, declared dead by misadventure - and arrested for Corporate Killing as part of the test case for a new law.

Mariner must suddenly salvage his reputation, his business and uncover the truth.

Cape Farewell

When a large rogue wave forms in the North Atlantic, three unsuspecting vessels are forced to protect themselves as best they can from the onslaught.

Among these ships is Richard Mariner’s trusty tug Sisyphus which, due to his quick-thinking and bold risk-taking, is saved from the worst of the wave’s effects.

However, when Richard’s wife, Robin, is swept away by the wave he soon realises that his troubles have only just begun.

As the other two boats fail to fare as well as the Sisyphus, with one lost and the other badly damaged, Richard aids the battered Quebec submarine up to the surface of the water, so that Canadian Fleet Command can take over.

But as those aboard the Quebec face threats from both the merciless sea and those within their midst, Richard and his crew must rapidly adapt to an ever-worsening situation.

Richard Mariner must face one of his most difficult challenges yet: balancing loyalty to his wife and professionalism in his work. Mariner could lose everything.

High Wind in Java

Cruising the Java seas aboard Tai Fun, Richard and Robin Mariner test the revolutionary vessel for potential investment.

Crewed by the finest professionals, the eco-friendly four-masted ship sails swiftly through the Indonesian islands.
During a stopover in an orang-utan sanctuary, the Mariners, along with multimillionaire eco-warrior Nic Greenbaum, discover evidence of corruption. Secrets can be deadly. Were there ulterior motives for joining the Tai Fun’s recreational journey?

Unexpectedly, the vessel changes its course. A small resource-rich island on their itinerary, Palau Baya, is hit by a chain reaction of unexplained natural disasters. Stranded and waiting for aid, Prince Sailendra deals with the crumbling of his island.

As the Tai Fun comes to the islanders’ rescue, a pirate attack slows their progress. Betrayals ensue. Richard adroitly takes advantage of rising tensions to formulate a plan.
But could it be too late?
