Thank you for the detailed reply - it's very useful to know what's going on under the hood. I used to use your excellent Kobo Utilities plugin quite extensively when the Aura HD was my main driver, but I've gotten a bit out of the habit recently because Kobo's own interface has improved so much. I'll update it and restart using it. Thank you for the suggestion (and for the plugin!).
