I replaced a battery in my Paperwhite. I had planned to buy the battery from Newpower99 since they'd been around for so long and maintained a good reputation. Instead I foolishly bought a cheap battery, about 1/10the price, and installed it. It was difficult enough to to do that I didn't want to do it again so when the new battery wasn't much better than the old battery I gave the Paperwhite to a friend.
I have read that it's much easier to replace a Voyage battery. My Voyage battery was worse than that Paperwhite battery. It got so it only lasted a day even when I didn't use it. I decided I wasn't interested enough in it to change the battery so I gave it to another friend. I always preferred the Paperwhite to the Voyage because I was always accidentally turning pages without meaning to on the Voyage.
Anyway if you decide to do it I'd take JSWolf's advice and get the battery from Newpower99.
