I think it is relatively easy to open up the Voyage and remove the back (and reassemble). You might look into DIY battery replacement.

My Voyage was bricked trying to install a recent update. I have replaced it with a Paperwhite (20% trade in discount and currently running $99 markdown). I gave my ‘spare’ Voyage to my sister the week before mine bricked itself. So it goes...
