Personally I do not give a damn about anyone tracking what I read on a ebook reader. If you are that paranoid about such then get a Sony T series reader as nobody supports it any more and the screen on the T3 is basically identical to the Kindle PW2 screen, still plenty useable. It also supports photos and has a handwritten notes and drawings support capability. Get one with the lighted cover and it works great and the light runs off the reader internal battery. Maybe not as even illumination as a front lighted internal LED illuminated screen but it works. I have two of them with the lighted covers. Even with the lighted cover it is my lightest and smallest 6" reader with cover, comparable in size and weight to the 5" readers with cover. Also takes a micro SD or SDHC card up to 32 GB. With no remaining support then side loading books is required.
Once registered a Kindle or Kobo reader can be put in airplane mode and left there and it can never report what you read if you are willing to side load all your books.
