There are no options. If you use the sync button, it checks everything each time. But, the checking for updates doesn't usually take long here.

But, you don't really need to do a specific sync. The device syncs books at other times. Opening the library list will sync the books. There is a timer built into that to prevent it from doing the book sync to often.
