Look, I really like my Kobo and have only have passing experience with Kindles. But from everything in your post, I'd recommend the Oasis. It is clearly better in your case. Get the Oasis.
Or if you can wait, you could try looking for a cheap Kobo on eBay. Once you have some experience, if you think Kobo is far superior to Kindle, then maybe it will be with the risk of ordering the Libra.
