SYNC Audio Registration

In order to download this year's free audiobooks, you must register with SYNC and you must use the Sora app. Registration is easy and only requires an email address for both SYNC and Sora. Personal information and passwords are not required.

SYNC books are no longer DRM-Free

Your books can only be played on devices capable of downloading the Sora app. Once added to your library, you'll have access to your books indefinitely. If you're using multiple devices, you only need to add the books to one device. They will automatically appear on your shelf in other devices once you refresh the app.

If you wish to download your books to non-Sora devices, you must break DRM. Remember, MobileRead Policy does not allow discussing those procedures (Google is your friend).

Note: you must go through the setup process for each device you install the Sora app on.


Registration

1. Go to SYNC's home page.
   
2. Scroll down to: Sign up for SYNC 2020 and follow the instructions.
   
3. Enter your email address and begin the registration process.
   
4. After you've registered, go to the steps below to set up your Sora app.

How do I set up Sora?

1. Download Sora from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
   
2. Open Sora and tap I have a setup code (at the bottom of the screen).
   
3. Enter this setup code: audiobooksync.
   
4. Enter the email address you used to sign up for SYNC.
   
5. Tap Explore (at the bottom of the screen) to see the week’s featured titles.
   
6. The 2020 season starts April 30.

I already use Sora for school. How do I add SYNC titles?

If you already use Sora, you’ll need to add the SYNC program’s library. Here are the steps:

1. In Sora, open the menu (in the top-right corner).
   
2. Select Add a public library.
   
3. Search for audiobooksync and select the library from the results.
   
4. The 2020 season starts April 30.

Can I delete the titles from my device? -- YES, but do so with extreme caution

Yes, you can delete the downloaded audiobook files in Sora if you need to free up space on your device. If you delete the files, the title will stay on your Shelf, and you’ll be able to download and access it again.

To delete a downloaded audiobook’s files, tap the checkmark next to the title on your Shelf. Then, select Stream (when online).

If you RETURN an audiobook, it will be completely removed from your account in Sora and you’ll lose access to it once its SYNC availability period is over. We don’t recommend doing this!
