Thanks for replying. Yes, I'd previously had a look in there, and that's where all the books had been placed, as I'd expected. That was where I told Calibre to import the library to, after all.
But, when I was double-checking in there, after your suggestion, I noticed the actual cause of the problem: there was now a Mike folder in Users. That just contained a Documents folder, which contained an empty Calibre library.
So, for some reason, Calibre was trying to open that library, which was the corrupt one. I pointed it to the mikef user folder and there were all the books!
No idea what happened there, but it all seems to be working now.
