I use MinionPro most of the time. The problem kicks in for me if I reduce the line spacing value below 0.86 on the device. It's quite possible that this "threshold" number varies by font.
Just to confuse the issue I don't believe a Kobo device setting of 0.86 is the same as explicitly setting
line-height:0.86 in a book's CSS file.
I think you would need to have enabled one of the kobopatch line spacing patches to ever have seen the problem in kepubs because the minimum default value on an unpatched device is 1.0 (
I think).
