I think triggering mrpi with emergency.sh may be done too early thus failing at some point...

Try this:
1) use emergency.sh from this thread to restore log command:

2) restart kindle twice
3) put following packages in the mrinstaller folder:

- K5 JailBreak Hotfix (just in case)
- KUAL (coplate)
- Mobileread Kindlet Kit (as far as I remember this should not be needed, but I had to reinstall it to get everything working on 12.5)
- any additional packages you need (screensavers/usbnetwork)
4) Use ;log mrpi or just ;mrpi to trigger installer when system is properly booted
