I don't understand. The docs there are not for end users. They are for device developers. The AOSP source code *is* the cannonical documentation. I don't know if there is some sort of technical pdf out there, but I'm pretty sure I won't understand a s**t.
But the blobs that need to be ported between android versions (using the legacy hal) are documented in
https://source.android.com/devices. These are the things devs pull from their working devices when porting/building a specific AOSP derivate, like Lineage.
