The screen density, pixels per inch (ppi), are different. The iPad Pro 10.5 has 264 ppi whereas the iPad mini has 326 ppi. Will that matter to you? Maybe not, especially if your eyesight is pretty good. In theory, the mini 5 has a bit of an edge over the Pro 10.5, but whether it will be noticeable to you is impossible to say. Only you can make that determination. I really don’t notice much, if any, difference between my mini 5 and Pro 9.7 (which has 264 ppi).

My main reason for liking the mini 5 as a reading device is the size and weight. I’ve got severe arthritis in my hands, and elsewhere, so lighter weight is critical for me. Personally, I also prefer the smaller screen as well because it just seems more natural as a reading size than my Pro 9.7. Both of those reasons are personal opinions and YMMV of course.
