BTW, after I stopped the video and closed Calibre all the window instances of hitting View were being hidden behind Calibre.
When you start calibre, the "Library" and the "Device" button show different lists. The "Library" button shows books in the current calibre library. The "Device" button shows the books that are on the currently connected device. That is why the columns displayed are different. In your case, the device is a folder somewhere on your computer. And a tick in the "In Library" column means that calibre was able to match the book that is on the device with a book in the library.

If you click the device button and select one of the books shown, in the details pane on the right, it show extra details of the book. One of those is the path to the book, with a link to click to open the book. I can't read the path properly in the video, but it appears to start with "D:\OneDrive -". I assume that means the mounted folder device is on OneDrive. I think there is a number further down the path, so it looks like a calibre library on OneDrive. Whether that is you current library, or a backup copy, I can't tell.

From this, you should be able to work out what directory is being mounted as a folder device. It will be the common directory for all these books. And it will have two files that calibre uses, "metadata.calibre" and "driveinfo.calibre", in it. But, there is a tweak in the preferences to automatically connect to a folder at startup. This is called "Specify a folder calibre should connect to at startup". Go to that in the Tweaks page of the preferences and you will see what directory is being used. And you can clear this by pressing the "Reset this tweak" button and applying the changes.

Of course, your save-to-disk problem probably has nothing to do with this. But, clearing this up will remove at least one issue. Or, are you using save-to-disk to OneDrive and things are getting lost because of the sync?
