I've gone to Geek1011's site and downloaded the latest firmware and unzipped it.
Via terminal (I'm on a mac) I can see that the drive is mounted here:
/dev/disk2s3 .... /Volumes/KOBOeReader
I can also navigate to the .kobo folder.
But... I'm not sure what to do next.

If the device isn't booting, it is very unlikely that would have worked. Processing the firmware update requires the device to boot to a certain point. Any device that the word "bricked" could be used to describe, isn't going to do that. But, I suspect that a lot of them would respond to a manual factory reset that was done properly. If you haven't done this, follow
these instructions.
Otherwise, you will need the image. And I have sent you a PM with the link.
