AGAIN
Quality check plugin

A useful tool
To standardize the entries (almost any. One kind at a time)
The CHECK part only identifies (temporary mark) issues. You use other tools to fix selected entries. Some are part of Calibre (Bulk metadata edit), some others are in the FIX section of this PI. For advanced users, DaltonST has some really deep level tools

SORTING is set in Preferences: TWEAKS
ID: author_sort_copy_method
ID: title_series_sorting
<and there are some more>
After changing any of these settings, you will need to use the QC PI to identify, and the Bulk Metadata Edit to recompute the sorts (there is tick boxes. Tick the one needed. OK. that is all you do)

AND AGAIN
Stop looking 'under the skirts'. It will get you into a deep mess if you touch.
Calibre will deliver books (Send to, Save as)to a device, without ever knowing where IN the Library, they were stored.
