Regarding adding books, they are some epub and html books.
Regarding Library Maintenance, the only items on the Library icon are:
Show books in calibre laibrary
Switch/create library...
When I search Help for "maintenance" it explains what should be listed on the Library icon, but only the above 2 items are shown.
