Hi everyone,
I am eagerly trying to solve the following issue, which no amount of search seems to yield an answer. With caution as to potentially using wrong search terms, here's the problem:
- I select a record in Calibre which contains an actual book in any of the acceptable formats (pdf, epub, etc) and an actual cover as image; everything is in a specified file path.
- I edit the metadata to correct the author's name for example, or the book's title.
- I click OK.
- The record now contains a new file path, different to the original (which is OK), but also Calibre's generic cover as image instead of the original and a corrupt book (that cannot be opened) in the same file format as the original; both cover and book are different in size to the original files.
- The original file path still exists and contains the actual book and the actual cover.
In summary, Calibre does not rename the actual book (the correct file) nor does it transfer it to the new folder it creates along with the cover; it simply creates a new folder, a new image, and a new file as a book which is corrupted.
Can you please help me solve this issue? Library management is completely impractical past 5 manual record updating to correct it myself.
Thanks!
