Yes, this happens to me on my Kobo Clara HD, and I find it irritating.

If you want to turn off screenshots (which are saved when you press the power button, if you've turned screenshot capability on):

Edit the file:

H:\.kobo\Kobo\Kobo eReader.conf

where H:\ is the drive of your Kobo eReader:

Find:

[FeatureSettings]
Screenshots=true

Change it to:

[FeatureSettings]
Screenshots=false

The screenshots are saved in the root of the main memory as
files with names in the form screen_???.png, where ??? are numbers. You can delete the existing ones from there.
