You do give loads of good advice, but running the NATIVE Linux version of Calibre on Linux is no more likely to mess your library than Windows 10.

You seem to use windows. Leave Linux advice to people that have been using it, deploying it and teaching it for over 20 years. Most ordinary users now have less problems on Linux (most seem to use Mint) than on Windows 10.
