also note that some ebook converters still downscale images if not configured correctly
or the ebook is shipped with low-res images from the start
or it's jpeg with compression artifacts
so making the image larger unfortunately does not necessarily provide the same level of detail you'd find in a paper book; it's a shortcoming of ebooks esp. older ones that were optimized for ereaders with 600x800 pixel screens when todays resolutions are so much higher
