My favorite is probably the Better Homes and Gardens Storybook. It's an anthology from the 50s that has a lot of poems and stories with great illustrations. My favorite parts are probably a poem called The King's Breakfast (by A.A. Milne) and a story about a town where all the dolls come to life.
It had been my father's, and Granny found it and gave it to me when I was 5 or 6. I used to carry it around and try to make anyone within range read something from it to me. Granny never would, because she said that she spent too many years reading it to my dad and it was time someone read the stories to her for a change. So we'd take turns picking stories for me to read, and I'd get really into it and try to do different voices for the characters. That always made her laugh.
