I've always had to be very deliberate and precise when highlighting a word for dictionary. I am reluctant to highlight a word near the edges of the screen as it will always page on the first attempt, sometimes it'll whizz past several pages, I memorise the page number prior to highlighting a word.

Highlighting is always a hope and pray thing at the edges but more consistent in the center.

Perhaps page turn could be activated in blank space only, i.e. between the lines being sensed only, don't know if that's feasible as I've no knowledge of this hardware.
