I suspect this may come from pdurrant's first posts in the Science Fiction and Fantasy and the Mystery, Suspense & Thrillers threads in this forum. The first message includes:
"Please don't post any self-published books (unless you have read them yourself, think they are excellent, and you're not connected to the author in any way) and please do a search before posting to avoid duplicates."
There were issues with people who were posting there when they should have been posting in the Self-Promotions by Authors and Publishers forum and others which basically said "I haven't read the book or any book by the author but their newsletter said it is really great".
