All 7 of Travis Bagwell's Awaken Online books are free at Amazon US right now - looks like he's starting a new series in the same world. These are LitRPG books about a sometimes-reluctant necromancer. Self-published, I've read the first two. For me, the characterization is adequate but the plot goes in some unusual directions. I think some are shorter works but several are novel-length.
