Thankfully, seems like there's relatively decent alternatives for lower end models (Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case with Trackpad, $149). The keyboard+trackpad is completely detachable so I could probably use the same one on multiple devices (maybe even on the Pro 9.7). Looks like the keyboard portion might work with my existing trifold portfolio case-stand, too.
