Now I think about it the 'everything under the sun' behaviour might have been 7zip running on OS2 Warp, but pretty sure it was same in Windows NT. The context was an inter-continental project for the forex division of a Japanese investment bank close to the usability testing phase. So, we didn't have time to faff around with some Bostonian dude's cutesy archive utility. IIRC his code was pretty crappy and he was never fully paid.

Bottom line - that put me off 7zip for life.
