Our
CIO fell into a very similar trap, and tried to drag the rest of us into it too.
"I'm
sure we'll have
no problem finding an off-the-shelf replacement for the
completely custom-built, constantly evolving one that is mission-critical and has >95% usage!" We've been waiting almost two years now for them to come and ask what the
requirements for the application are....
But I digress -- I agree that it's not difficult to imagine even brilliant folks having that sort of a blind spot.
