A few years ago I have purchased a notebook for my mother that came with Windows 8 and a 32GB EMMC "SSD" (*).
*Heavily* discounted. You switched it on and it promptly tried to commit suicide by attempting to download update to Win 10.
I have installed (an older version of) Mint Linux xfce on it and it works very nicely.
it is used as viewer for home videos taken by a mobile phone, viewer for photos and a very light Internet browsing machine.
(*) EMMC is not a true SSD, it is more closely related to an SD card.
What is worse, there is space for a "proper" SSD in the notebook casing, but the SATA connector on the motherboard is not soldered on and I suspect that there are some other electronic components missing, so it is not like you solder on one connector and connect the drive.
