Issue converting HTML pages to EPUB

Hi everyone,

I am stuck with the following issue :

I want to export articles from a somewhat old encyclopedia (Encyclopaedia Universalis 2009) running on Windows. The program can export the said articles in two formats : PDF or HTML.

I use HTML, since it's a better source for the EPUBs I want to create. Calibre handles the conversion pretty well (the texts are good), but there are some "blocks" that are not well rendered : the images are cropped and the legend on the side of the image is truncated.

Can somebody help me on this ?

I have uploaded a screencapture of an original HTML export, rendered in Firefox, and a picture of the EPUB rendered on my Kobo ereader (see files attached).
