Can a patch be made to prevent Nickel from scanning hidden directories?
Method: {KOBO_DIR} / Kobo / Kobo eReader.conf

[FeatureSettings]
ExcludeSyncFolders = \\. (?! kobo | adobe). *?
It do not work on KAO1.
