Anyone that it would truly bother, in my opinion, will already know how to prevent Sigil from accessing the internet. Those it doesn't bother, won't be looking for ways to turn it off.
We don't check every time Sigil is launched, and we only check once per new version so there's no "nagging." I truly don't get it either. But I'm tempted to give users the option to disable the check if only to get people to shut up about it. But if we do that, then people surely WILL turn it off, and every third support question will become, "Oh. I didn't know there was a new version out that fixed that. Sorry."
