Indeed, when I originally implemented the "preview" button on the Kindle screensaver hack, I resorted to a *double* flash to white before flashing the image... I don't recall which device behaved the worse at the time, because that was 6 years ago or so, but let's go with "an old one"

That said, funnily enough, flashing the same content (especially image content) multiple times *may* potentially yield worse results than only flashing it once, no matter the device. (It's certainly worse than flashing to white first in every case).
