I have a folder for each of my Kindles. Each book I purchase from Amazon is downloaded six times, once into each of the three devices and once into each directory.

Those directories (along with my iTunes music, photos and documents) are backed up onto (1) a mirror drive on my main computer, (2) my laptop, (3) my NAS storage device, and (4) online to Carbonite.com.
