All one has to do to get earlier firmware updates is change the version number in the url.

Everything worked perfectly. Python and KUAL MRPI was actually still on the device. I didn't really need KUAL for anything, so I just threw in the screensaver hack, ran it, and now everything is the way I want it to be: 5.10.3 features with screensaver.
Over 1 day my paperwhite has transformed into the device I wanted it to be since day 1.. it took over half a year of waiting, but at last, here we are!
