Unto Us a Son Is Given is the 28th and most recent (for a couple of weeks, until the next one comes out in early March) in Donna Leon's excellent IMO Commissario Guido Brunetti series. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable). Of course this price drop happened only a few days after my loooong hold at my library finally ended and I got to read it .

Guido Brunetti is urged by his father-in-law to investigate—and preferably intervene in—the seemingly innocent plan of the elderly Gonzalo Rodríguez de Tejeda to adopt a much younger man as his son. Under Italian inheritance laws, this man would then be heir to Gonzalo’s entire fortune, a prospect Gonzalo’s friends find appalling.
