He's talking about the original file name outside of Calibre. For example, if I download War and Peace from project Gutenberg I get the file pg2600.epub on my hard drive. Dragging that into calibre produces the file War and Peace - graf Leo Tolstoy.epub inside Calibre's library directory. Nothing in Calibre says anything about pg2600.epub.
