I should add I'd planned to take the subway downtown so had driven to a close by station, only to find the parking lot close to the station full. Actually the car in front of me found a place which would have been mine if I hadn't got stuck behind a stopped bus while a line of traffic passed me.
Yes there is another lot at that station but there are a heck of a lot of stairs between it and the station and with my CROW boot (think of a removable cast that goes up to my knee), stairs are not my friend.
Luckily I had time to drive downtown and one does get 2 hours free parking at the optometrists office.
