As posted eariler in this discussion, I had a Moto phone bought about 3 years ago that I used until late 2019 - it had a replaceable battery.

One reason often given for replacing older Android phones is to get a current version of Android in case the older version on the phone is no longer secure. Though I've seen other people say that as long as you keep the apps updated it'll be OK.
The main reason I replaced my older phone was because Verizon is changing its technology and my old phone would not continue to be usable. Also the old phone didn't have a lot of memory.
