The doctor is convinced that it's just a virus. Either the same one I had in January, or a new one (working in a store this is entirely possible). The biggest problem is "breaking the cycle". Once I start coughing properly it'll take a lot of effort, and time, to stop. During the day I can easily do this. But at night I wake up coughing like crazy, stopping is hard then. I do sleep very light.
It's just weird, I can go hours without coughing, and then it suddenly starts up again. If I can prevent it from getting bad it tends to go away quickly. But I can't do that in my sleep.
The doctor prescribed sleeping pills, tamazepam, for five nights. Hopefully that'll knock me out enough that it prevents me from even starting to cough.
If there is little or no progress by Friday I'll call the doctor's office again and make an appointment.
