I have no idea. Communication with Boyue about its firmware is best described as imperfect. I bought my Mars last week and it had the 1.3 version on it. When I tried to update via wifi, it said that I had the latest version. I thought 1.3 was pretty liveable, but decided to check out the newer firmware.
I'm in the camp of those who like the newer firmware better, though it does appear to take longer to boot. Having airplane mode so handy does help with battery life. The new home screen also divides it clearly into reader mode vs. tablet mode and I like that as well. I have no idea if it's more stable or faster.
