If your AV has an issue with Calibre multiple times, dump it as it's not doing you any good.

Yes, the OP updated his Calibre recently as 4.10.1 was released on Friday.

I haven't needed to exclude calibre, or anything else, from MS's security software since I Installed Win 7 RC build 7100 in May 2009 - i.e. more than a decade ago. A major benefit in ditching XP was that I could also ditch 3rd party AVs - which were always a PITA as far back as Peter Norton's original c**p.

Has it ever found any malware? Yes a couple of times, notably a Trojan in one of AVG's products that their own and most other AV products missed!

IMO a lot of the false positives, spurious blockages etc raised by 3rd party security offerings are put there to convince users that they're actually doing something useful. All I see from Defender (Jon, in some places it's still branded as such) is a silent notification message every few days to let me know how many 'nothing found' scans it has done since the last notify - it's usually three or four; I could suppress the messages if I wanted to.
