The way I understand/remember the issue the device puts itself into a suspended state after a couple of seconds, so any action that takes longer will appear "frozen." Most actions take (significantly) less than 2 seconds, so only something like a difficult dictionary lookup or a particularly large/complex document would trigger the problem.
